University Games in Brisbane. Held over a period of six days (September 21 to 26), the 2005 University Championships assembled 6000 athletes from
over 40 universities and tertiary institutions Australia-wide to compete in over 20 individual and team disciplines.
Coming off a heavy winter training base, Michael Barber displayed promising early season form in the Men's Open Decathlon, setting seven new
personal bests in the first two days of competition. Barber entered the closing event, the 1500 metres, holding onto fourth place.
Smoking the field over the first 800 metres, Michael retained the lead to claim the race and pull himself into third overall position.

World Youth Championships / Marrakech Morocco
Congratulations to Heidi Gregson and Olivia Tauro on their results at the World Youth Championships in Morocco.
Challenged in her international debut by older and more experienced rivals, Heidi put in a strong showing, finishing a gutsy 7th place in the 1500m.
Heidi's selection onto her first Australian national team was a deserving way to close an outstanding season of performances and a promising indication
for the future.
Also making her first outing on the world stage was Olivia Tauro, who devoted herself to the Australian team over four gruelling days of track
competition. In humid conditions, Olivia competed in the individual 100 and 200 metres, finishing 4th and 8th respectively, as well as the sprint and medley relays.
