Hills Athletics Club works in co-operation with the Hills District Little Athletics Club to provide the
opportunity for athletes of all ages to participate in track and field competition. It is the joint objective of both organisations to foster a smoother
transition from Little Athletics through to Senior Club level. The majority of senior Hills athletes have at some stage been involved with a Little
Athletics Club, either within the Hills or Blacktown district. The club acknowledges the importance of Little Athletics, as not solely to engage an interest in sporting activity,
but also to develop key motor skills, co-ordination, time management, goal setting and personal achievement.
Competition for registered athletes is provided by ANSW and normally conducted on Saturday afternoons.
Cross Country and Road Walk Competitions are scheduled during the Winter Season between May and September at a broad range of venues across
the Sydney metropolitan region. Track and Field competitions occur throughout the Summer months of September to February, usually
late afternoon or evening. Unlike the Winter distance program, the Summer race schedule is confined to a smaller number of
sites, including Campbelltown, Blacktown, Mingara, ES Marks and Sydney Olympic Park.
Every athlete must be registered with Athletics NSW before they can compete in the navy and gold strip of Hills.
For insurance purposes, it remains important that athletes who only wish to train with the Hills Athletics Club also become members of the Club.
Club Registration is available at any time of the year. Registration covers a twelve month period commencing in April / May and concluding
the following March / April. Therefore, an athlete has the option of being registered for winter only, summer only or for a full year.
Athletes who hold membership with another organisation or compete under special ANSW conditions (eg. Little Athletics Athletes, Veterans)
qualify for ANSW's discounted registration rate. This rate only applies where athletes have already registered with LAANSW or a recognised Veterans
association. ANSW also offers a family rate, enabling families of two adults and two children to be registered for a single fee.
